Not Unidimensional

In talking about injury and the deeper struggles that I am sure we have all experienced that go along with, it is only fair to say a few things in addition:

It seems that some have to struggle longer and harder to recover.

Injury keeps coming up or simply sticks around in spite of doing everything “right”.

In contrast, others seem somehow immune. Maybe little things come up now and then, but otherwise, injuries are few and short-lived.

Sometimes, this is just the way life is. Not fair. Not always understandable or justified.

But think about this too: the struggle may be less physical and more metal. By this I mean, some of us feel things in our bodies. Others experience them in the mind.

Trauma and stress, past or current, do not manifest as tightness in muscle and fascia in the body, but rather as a need for control, obsessive compulsion, and general anxiety in the brain.

So really. No one is immune. We all struggle with different things. In different ways. And at different times.

And so we go back to this:

It’s life.

This is living.

We are not unidimensional.

We are not just physical beings.

But emotional. And mental. And spiritual.

We must seek to uncover the meaning in our hard experiences as hard experiences can help us sculpt away the excess.
